Why 12.21 — The Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice is the ancient day of descent. It is the darkest night of the year — the moment when the sun reaches its lowest point, and night reigns supreme. It is a liminal threshold where the old year dies, and the new one is quietly awakened.

In ancient traditions, the Winter Solstice was honored as a sacred portal. Darkness, the underworld, and descent into shadow were recognized as essential for spiritual transformation.

It is the turning point where darkness reaches its peak —
and the light begins its return.

There is no more potent day to:

• break a karmic cycle

There is no more potent moment for this work than the Winter Solstice, when the veil is thinnest and the medicine of the descent is most potent.

The Shadow Sorcerer & The Priestess

There is an archetype of initiation that many priestesses – especially those in the Isis lineage – may pass through. It is a trial by fire, and it is a master initiation. It often involves romantic partnership with a Shadow Sorcerer – where the priestess is almost completely annihilated, almost completely crushed. 

The Shadow Sorcered-type has magnetism, depth, power, and stunning potential. They may be gifted spiritually, have psychic abilities, as well as heightened intellect and instinct.  They are captivating, sensual and draw the Priestess in with purpose.

This romantic partnership can be exhilarating, confusing and ultimately is destructive.

Yet, the role of the Shadow Sorcerer is singular: to call forth your ultimate power.
Not performative power — but unshakable power.

This initiation does not destroy you, although it comes close. 

The Shadow Sorcerer will not hand you your power — not when you beg, plead, appeal, rage, or demand.

You must take it.

You must take the scepter.
You must take the crown.

You then emerge with a spine of steel.
You become unable to manipulate and control.
You see through illusion effortlessly.
Your tongue becomes a sword of Truth, and you hold yourself with self-mastery.

The Shadow Sorcerer plays this role to their own demise. They are eventually destroyed in the process. And the karma they take on is immense.
